The iPad mini was available for preorder starting on Friday, October 26. The sales went quickly. Some sites were reporting that the 16GB iPad mini Wi-Fi sold out within the first 20 minutes. Even as we move well into the weekend, there are still some models available for delivery on November 2.
If you head over to the Apple website now, all of the white and silver models indicate a delayed ship date of two weeks. If you would consider the Wi-Fi black and slate model, however, the 32GB ($429) and the 64GB ($529) models are still available for a November 2 delivery. The 16GB black and slate model ($329) falls in line with the white and silver models with delays up to two weeks.
The Wi-Fi and cellular models are set for mid-November ship dates. However, each model and color combination is available for preorder now through Apple’s website. Users can select from each of the three major carriers in the United States, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
If you have a shared data plan, the price per month may be more affordable now than stand alone data plans have been in the past. On AT&T and Verizon, it is only $10 per month for the additional tablet if you have a shared data plans.
Which iPad mini is right for you will depend on how you will use your new device. If you are not sure or just want to hold the device before purchasing it, you’ll need to wait until November 2 and possibly stand in line at your local Apple store. Best wishes on getting the iPad mini of your choice before the holiday rush.
If you are an Android fan, your wait for a new tablet may not be far away. However, Mother Nature has influenced a delay in the Google event scheduled for October 29. If you are a Windows user, new Microsoft Surface tablets are in Microsoft stores and online. If you look for a Surface online, you may experience a delay in shipping for some models as well.
